Yellowman Description
This year Reggae Summer Splash 2014 is a summer concert series split into 7 parts. Part 5 features Yellowman & The Sagittarius Band live in concert. Yellowman or King Yellowman is a Jamaican dancehall reggae performer who gained wide popularity in the dancehall reggae scene of the 1980s. A series of successful singles, including "I'm Getting Married in the Morning," "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt" and "Zungu Zungu Zeng" brought him worldwide acclaim. Although he used strong political language in his early songs, Yellowman often brought a salacious, controversial element to his lyrics. The Sagitarrius Band has been the driving force behind Yellowman shows for years. These veterans of Reggae music are exceptionally talented musicians and have traveled internationally with the King. On the evening of the concert, WorldBeat Productions will be inducting Yellowman into the 'Reggae Legends Hall of Fame', which is to be housed inside the WorldBeat Cultural Center, Balboa Park. WorldBeat Productions created the Hall of Fame to honor the legacy of foundation reggae artists, dead or alive. Earlier this year WorldBeat Productions inducted Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Junior Murvin, Jacob Miller, Mikey Dread, Lucky Dube, Don Carlos, Sly & Robbie, Horace Andy, Earl Zero, Sister Nancy, and Willi Williams into the Reggae Hall of Fame at its annual Tribute to the Reggae Legends festival. |
