1941. The emotionally volatile artist, Pablo Picasso (Dana
Packard) has been summoned by German Occupation Leaders to a basement vault for
questioning. His interrogator is the tense and beautiful Miss Fischer
(Jennifer Porter) a cultural attaché from Berlin. Her assignment is to
discover which, if any, of the three possibly Picasso paintings recently
confiscated by the Nazis, is authentic. The Ministry of Propaganda has planned
an exhibition and will trust only the great artist himself to confirm whether
the works are genuine. At first, Picasso seems to comply, but when Miss
Fischer realizes he is not being entirely truthful with her, a perilous,
high-stakes game of cat and mouse ensues between the two powerful adversaries,
in this suspense-filled play about art, politics, sex, and truth. Don’t miss this rare duo performance by
the founders of The Originals, as they lead off their 26th season at
SRT!
