One in four Americans lives with some form of mental illness. Millions live healthy, productive and loving lives. When someone has a mental health condition and engages in power exchange relationships, unique issues arise. This class covers tips and tools for loving someone who lives with mental illness. It also covers the unique issues of power exchange with someone who is mentally ill, including: the "Secretary" fantasy of commanding a submissive to stop manifesting the symptoms of a mental illness, playing with someone during a mental health episode, negotiating healthy long-term power exchange, and problematic behaviors for both the mentally ill party and the person loving them. Class from 8-10pm. doors open at 7:30pm Cost: $20 at the door, $15 in advance using PurplePass About the presenter: Rebecca Blanton (aka Auntie Vice) holds a Ph.D. (ABD) in political psychology from CUNY, Graduate Center and a BA in Psychology from UC Davis. She taught government and leadership in the CUNY system. She has served as a policy expert for the State of California and was the appointed head of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Blanton now works as a freelance writer and performer based in California. Her work focuses on elevating kink and BDSM and continuing to work towards a more just world. Her latest book, Love Letters to a Unicorn, was a finalist for the NLA-I nonfiction book of the year and is currently nominated for the Golden Flogger Award.
