Long time downtown curator, emcee, and performer Eric Schmalenberger brings an evening of filth to The Duplex in the world premier of his new one man cabaret show, BABYBIRD Does Dirty Ditties.  There have always been songs out on the edges of our cultural landscape that have been just a little too much for mass public consumption. Come on a wild ride through censorship and too hot for radio tunes and tales with the man who sounds like a songbird and talks like a sailor. Mr. Schmalenberger (AKA Baby'Bird) brings the sincere and the surprising to life as only stylish clown-about-town ever could. Baby'Bird's songbird whistle, creative fashion, and wide-eyed innocence meet with an insightful and cutting wit that will warm your heart and shock your senses to the core. Eric cut his teeth producing immersive art shows, hosting underground circus spectaculars, holding all night dance parties, and organizing variety shows for venues across the city including The Slipper Room, Joe's Pub, The House of Yes, The Coney Island Side Show, and the legendary Red Lotus Room. This is his first solo show performed as himself and will feature music direction by Maria Dessena with special guests Stella Rose Saint Clair and Teen Pussy (the all cat girl group of your nightmares).
