Directed by Ricky Duhaime, this Austin College 2017 Homecoming collaboration again unites the Austin College A Cappella Choir, faculty soloists, several alumni and current students as well professional colleagues from the area. Three of the most memorable composers from Nineteenth-Century France are featured, beginning with the Petite symphonie for wind nonet by Charles Gounod, followed by the “Flower Duet” (Sous le dôme épais) for two soprano soloists (and newly orchestrated accompaniment) from the opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes. The concert will conclude with a stirring performance of Gabriel Fauré’s incomparable Requiem.
