Description
Synopsis: The Laramie Project is a documentary-styled play that analyzes the death of Matthew Shepard, an openly gay college student who was brutally murdered because of his sexual identity. The play was created by playwright/director Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project. The theatre group traveled from New York to Laramie, Wyoming - just four weeks after the death of Shepard. Once there, they interviewed dozens of townspeople and this, coupled with news reports, courtroom transcripts and journal entries makes for a powerful piece of theatre. Our opening weekend also marks 20 years since the brutal attack on Matthew Shepard.
Cast: The cast includes SCF students Samuel Echevarria Jr., Kelsey Fisher, Thomasa Hagney, Jack Heckler, Jacob Jones, Easton Laviolette, Michael Longobardi, Jacob Owens and Macey Reynolds; SCF Collegiate School students Emily Canavarros and Kathryn Daniel; dual-enrolled student Rachel Cook; and guest artist/staff member Carolyn Zaput
