"In Other Words" with John Coons & His Coconspirators Kirsten DeLohr Helland & Lauren Elder
It's
easy for things to get lost in translation. Especially when English
doesn't quite have a word for Razliubit (falling out of love) or
Torschlusspanik (the unique panic you feel when you think about time
running out). Sometimes, the best way to translate a feeling is just to
sit in it. Join John Coons and friends as they explore untranslatable
words through a mix of artists from Sondheim to Dolly Parton to LCD
Soundsystem. We promise it will be a night of Hyggelig*.
*a warm,
cozy, delightfully intimate moment. Think “a candlelit winter evening
with warm blankets, friends, and maybe a bit of alcohol.”
Singer-songwriter
John Coons tends to pop up in random settings on both coasts, from
performing with the Seattle Opera and Seattle Symphony, to singing the
national anthem for the Red Sox, to experimental chamber operas where he
plays one-half of Hitler. Highlights include Assassins with The 5th Ave
Theatre/ACT, performing with Ben Folds and the Boston POPS, touring his
one-man-musical-turned-webseries, Six Months for Six Weeks, and earning
a“Yassss Queen!” for belting Stravinsky in a gay bar.
