The 19th will be performed for a local feeding program at The Church of the Village."Hope for our Neighbors in Need" serves meals and funds a food pantry. The 26th will raise funds for "Friends In Deed" a charity founded in 1991 by Cynthia O'Neal and Mike Nichols. It is a crisis center for life-threatening illness. This piece is a result of an actual nightmare I had a little over a year ago. I was inspired by women's solo shows that came before me. By Lenny Bruce, who was always quoted as having said, "Pain plus time is real humor." And by Ed Kleban, who wrote, "Different is nice, but it sure isn't pretty. Pretty is what it's about." I am blessed with a director (Cookie Harlin), whose insight and creativity is only surpassed by her kindness and encouragement. Never underestimate the importance of a great stage manager (Rusty Riegleman), who is indeed the glue that holds us together. A special note of love and thanks to my magnificent daughter, Maegan Mishico. And to my beloved Andrea Schaffer (from the Bronx). My hope is that some part of this touches your hearts and makes you laugh, as well. Lisa S. Dontzin
