Description
Makoto Taiko’s annual concert, “Envision,” will feature nearly 75 Makoto members, along with guest artists Shoji Kameda, Koji Nakamura, Rachel Rudich, and Kozue Matsumoto, for an evening of traditional and contemporary influenced ensemble works. Established in 1991 and now boasting 95 members ranging in age from 6 to 75, Makoto Taiko is one of the largest community taiko drumming groups in Southern California. Weekly classes are open to individuals of all abilities—from beginner to advanced—and cover a variety of taiko drumming styles. Makoto translates to "pure drum sound." The mission of Makoto Taiko is to unite people of all backgrounds by preserving and sharing the spirit of taiko through performance, classes, and charitable and educational activities. Outside food or beverage is prohibited inside the Arcadia Performing Arts Center.
