Description
This 5-day, 40 hours educational experience will equip the participant with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide non-clinical peer recovery support in the physical health, mental health and/or substance use profession. Participants will be expected to complete, and pass, an on-line exam to test their understanding of the role to gain the credential.
A certified recovery specialist (CRS) is an individual who can use their own lived life experiences to help others (peers) through treatment and toward the path of sustained recovery from mental illness and/or substance abuse. A CRS must have firsthand experience with a mental illness and/or substance abuse challenge as well as have lived in recovery for at least one year. You will need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the CRS certification: 18 years of age or older Have lived experience of receiving mental health and/or substance use treatment Have been in recovery for minimum of one year Have a High School diploma or equivalent Training is Monday, September 14th through Friday, September 18th, 2020 Registration begins each day at 8:00am, with training from 8:30am-4:30pm LUNCH WILL NOT BE PROVIDED ANY DAY (After payment of fees, Please ensure you submit your application for the training https://peernetworkindiana.org/crs-application .
