Description
The musical, “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, was first staged on
March 7, 1967, at Theatre 80 in New York City. There was no real script and the actors were armed mostly with ten songs and ten years' worth of cartoons by "Peanuts" creator, Charles M. Schulz. Due to Schulz's "immensely human view of the world and his special ability to say it for all of us”, Charlie Brown and his Peanuts gang have remained to be some of the most influential and beloved characters of all time. The story itself is told through a series of vignettes that mimic the well known four-panel format used by the original "Peanuts” cartoon strips. We join Charlie Brown and the Peanuts for an “average day in the life of Charlie Brown." A day made up of little moments, from bright, uncertain morning, to hopeful, starlit evening. We get to explore life's great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joys of friendship. This show has become somewhat of a staple in the musical theater cannon. The combination of the nostalgia these characters provide and the ever relevant lessons and themes they teach us, make it a timeless classic that people of all ages can enjoy.
