Jaime Meyer Description
Part Theatre / Part Shamanic Ceremony / All Cool.
It’s live! It’s people in a big room, drumming, laughing, singing together, and whipping up seriously fun Spiritual Wahoo for the Winter Solstice. The entire audience drums (drums and other wahoo-makers are provided or bring your own!). The live Celtic musicians lift your spirits. That strange old man and woman tell you mythic stories that bend your mind, wrench your heart, and open a doorway to Spirit inside you. And then they guide you into a mysterious healing and blessing ceremony drawn from their studies with shamans from around the world.
In Act One, you’ll move into a darkness-infused ceremony with the Celtic “Old Bone Mother” (also known as the Cailleach) to clear away old heavy energies. Act Two includes a blessing to open new life, vision and joy from the Spirit of The Deer, the powers of the Medicine Wheel, and the great un-namable, un-tameable, Spirit of Life. Dancing and ecstasy are encouraged (but not required). It's an experience that is at once deeply reverent, poetic, smart and funny. You are absolutely free to enter the experience in any way that is meaningful to you. You don't have to believe anything or do anything that is not authentic to you. The purpose of the evening is to help you feel alive all the way down in your mythic bones, connected to nature, connected to Mystery, connected to each other.
Our Wondrous Musicians: Mire&Peeps (Fiddle and Cello) is a spirited duo sharing an enthusiasm for old things and odd things alike. Their music is a continued improvisation on traditional fiddle styles from around the world, and they will be bringing the Celtic heat for our Solstice. Seating is limited to 60 each night. Past years have sold out swiftly. All seats are general admission. Doors open at 6:15, and the event begins at 7. Arrive early for the best choice of seats (and to drum!) Wear a mask or don’t (and please refrain from disparaging each other’s choice in any way). Please don’t come if you’re feeling ill. Be sensible, be loving, be the grace you want to see in the world. Plenty of free parking, and Handicap Accessible. We love kids, but this event is really not suitable for young kids unless they are accustomed to unusual ceremony. Sorry, but we can’t offer lower price children’s tickets.
