46th Season in 2022-2023: A Celebratory Season
A Snowman's Holiday
Join us for our popular Holiday concert which will include some of the usual SSO shenanigans and surprises.
The first half of the concert is devoted to snowmen! Delight in Erich Korngold's overture from "The Snowman" and Howard Blake's popular story and music from the BBC's 1984 film "The Snowman," which will be read and sung by our guest Carolyn Black-Sotir, a longtime friend of the SSO.
We will celebrate and remember the life of SSO trombonist Donald Raff, who produced many fine arrangements for us and also wrote the SSO’s program notes for many years. Amongst many holiday favorites, we will present a new arrangement of "Carol of the Bells" by SSO percussionist Welles Still, who arranged the work in memory of his wife April.
