Description
THE DIAL is an in person, ticketed event held at the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, AZ. This augmented reality installation for three simultaneous participants uses iPhones, interactive lighting, and projection mapping to create a fully immersive cinematic narrative experience.
_________________________ THE DIAL is an interactive narrative that combines Augmented Reality and Projection Mapping. The mysterious story of a formerly wealthy American family begins with a tragic late-night car crash. A middle aged woman smashes through the stonewall in front of her family home. Told from shifting perspectives, including two young girls snooping from next door, the elderly mother, the police, and the omniscient house that sits at its center, the rich visual tale reveals the family’s emotional underbelly and unravels what happened that fateful night. Projections map a model house on a table at the center of a glowing 14-foot glass cube. The table acts as the clock for the experience. You, the participant, control the story with your body. The more you physically explore, the more details you discover. Move clockwise around the table, time passes in the story. Move backwards, time rewinds. The AR and projections depict the narrative through the four seasons of a year. The repetition in cycles of human behavior blurs time as it unwinds. The installation is FREE and for ALL AGES. Please note, the story occasionally contains strong language, which may be unsuitable for children. Tickets are required for all experiences. Please note there will be a MAX CAPACITY of up to three patrons per time slot. The Dial will be open to the public the following dates/times: Select Dates September 15 - October 5 Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-9 pm Thursdays from 2-5 pm CREDITS Conceived and Directed by: Peter Flaherty Created by: Peter Flaherty & NightLight Labs Produced by: RYOT, Flaherty Pictures, NightLight Labs Executive Producers: Zeda Stone, Nigel Tierney, Jake Sally Producers: Peter Flaherty, Ela Topcuoglu, Sal Mannino Written by: Julia Bembenek and Josh Luxenberg Creative Technologists: Brian Chasalow & Theotime Vaillant Composer: Sage Lewis Sound By: Scott Hirsch 2D Artists: Sterling Bartlett & Carlo Maghirang Cast: Michael Gladis Beth Grant Azura Skye Lucy DeVito Jackie Hansen John Ennis Charlie McWade PROJECT INFORMATION Title: The Dial World Premiere: Sundance Film Festival 2019 Country: USA Language: English Year: 2019 Format: Augmented Reality Running time: 15 minutes For Project Website click: THE DIAL For Creators' Websites click: Peter Flaherty, NightLight Labs For Event Parking Information click: Downtown Mesa Parking Items Not Allowed
