GateWay Community College is excited to present its Trades Boot Camp, a comprehensive four-day, 32-hour program designed to introduce students to four different trades, with one trade covered each day.

1. HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration):

   • Participants will delve into the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVACR systems.
   • Safety protocols for working with HVACR systems will be emphasized alongside hands-on experience in the student lab.
   • Fundamentals of basic electricity, thermal dynamics, magnetism, and electric motor functions will be introduced.

2. GTAW (Gas, Tungsten, and Arc Welding):

   • Students will explore various welding techniques applicable in structural and high precision applications, including aerospace.
   • Safety procedures and hands-on learning will take place in the Welding lab.
   • Topics covered include the versatility of GTAW, welding ferrous and non-ferrous materials, shielding gas theory, and understanding GTAW processes.

3. Autobody:

   • Participants will gain insights into repairing and refinishing automotive vehicle bodies, restoring them to their original condition.
   • Lab tours and discussions on ongoing projects will provide a glimpse into the autobody program's foundation.
   • Students will shadow current students and attend workshops on dent repair techniques.

4. CNC (Computer Numerical Control):

   • This segment offers a crash course in CNC machining, a manufacturing method that automates machine tool control and precision through pre-programmed computer software.
   • Participants will learn shop safety, measuring with calipers, interpreting mechanical drawings, and operating CNC machines.

This immersive experience will leave attendees with an understanding of the essential skills necessary for success in these dynamic trades.
