We're kicking off our 2024 events in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area for all of our Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia supporters with a FREE Meetup & Reception in our nation's capital.

This event is open to both the general public as well as members of Atheists for Liberty.

We'll be meeting up at the headquarters and clubhouse of America's Future to meet fellow nonbelievers from around the DMV area as we grow our new, vibrant movement! Free Food & Drinks included.

Thomas Sheedy is the President and Founder of Atheists for Liberty. His influence extends beyond the confines of the organization, as he has been featured in notable media outlets such as Vanity Fair and mentioned on The Joe Rogan Experience. Thomas has made appearances on various shows, blogs, and podcasts, establishing himself as a key advocate for atheist activism. With a background in public policy, he specializes in the largest growing demographic, atheism, and is a dedicated proponent of the separation of religion and government, as well as religious freedom. Thomas Sheedy holds a B.S. in Public Policy & Management from the University at Albany's Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. His focus lies in addressing the escalating civilizational conflict between advocates of liberty and those who prioritize faith-based feelings over fact.

Yasmine Mohammed is an Arab-Canadian university educator, activist, and author who advocates for the rights of women living in Islamic majority countries, as well as those who struggle under religious fundamentalism. She is the founder of Free Hearts Free Minds, which provides psychological support for freethinkers living in Muslim majority countries–where the state sanctioned punishment for leaving Islam is death. She also serves as an advisor at the AHA Foundation. Her book, Unveiled, is a memoir/polemic that recalls her experiences growing up in a fundamentalist Islamic household and her arranged marriage to a member of Al-Qaeda. She has spoken in Canadian parliament and has been featured in many mainstream media publications such as: CNN, CBC, BBC, ABC Australia, Al Jazeera, New York Times and many others. She has spoken in Ivy League universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and Dartmouth and for many organizations including: The Freedom From Religion Foundation, AHA Foundation, Ayn Rand Institute, and Think Inc.
