A laugh-out-loud adventure you can’t miss —  “You Don’t Even Speak Spanish!” Join the CSUSB Department of Theatre Arts and the Ellen Weisser Endowed Theatre Showcase to find out when “You Don’t Even Speak Spanish!” — a Chicano farce by playwright and UC Riverside graduate Aaron Higareda, directed by Professor Guillermo Aviles-Rodriguez  — drops on April 25.

“You Don’t Even Speak Spanish!”is the story of Jorge Ramirez, a first-generation Chicano college student, as he struggles to find his voice over the cacophony of noise coming from his family, his classmates, and the weight of expectations placed on his shoulders. At its heart, the play explores the trials of finding your identity and voice as a first-generation college student, while tackling themes of cultural identity, family dynamics, and the pressures of modern life.

When Jorge falls for fellow student Citlalli (Star Goddess) in his Aztec dance class, his world gets flipped upside down. Is this new romance real? Will his family accept her? Is this some elaborate conspiracy concocted by his imagination? Or has it all been engineered by the American deep state?
