Description
Rutgers theater and filmmaking students showcase an evening of short plays. Brevity is the soul of wit, and this smorgasbord of short comedies and dramas is sure to be brief, witty, and surprising! Sure Thing by David Ives, directed by Andrew Merkle Two young people meet by chance in a coffee shop and try to make a romantic connection–over and over and over again. Will they ever get it right? That’s not necessarily a sure thing. Game Theory by Peter Sagal, directed by Matthew Tepfer Two businessmen find themselves across from one another in a dark room. They are tasked with convincing their counterpart to cross over the line. Winner lives on and can escape. The other? Well... maybe meatless meals will be all that is in store for them. "Game Theory" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com A Pizza Place written and directed by Andrew Matthews Android is one of the remaining humans left on Mars. His A.I. convinces him to eat, as he’s down to his last bitcoin. All he can afford is pizza. The Philadelphia by David Ives, directed by Andrew Merkle Two old friends meet in a restaurant and have comically different experiences with the service and food. Their realities are defined by their states of mind–or maybe their cities-of mind. It’s always funny in “The Philadelphia.” The Countdown by Charlie Brach, directed by Charlie Brach and Samantha Jacobs Dr. Derkenshchier conducts a series of experiments on people he kidnapped. What will these people who hate each other do when they think they have 2 minutes left to live, and are trapped in a room with a hoagie, some Uno cards, and a knife? Alumni Mortis written and directed by Ethan Santi In a time and place not far from our own, four college dropouts are fighting their way through a zombie apocalypse to cancel their student loans before the government comes to collect. In this excerpt from the larger play, Jacqui runs out of insulin, and her friends Felix, Dante, and Ash have to scavenge a demolished pharmacy to get her healthy again. They soon will find out more about the horrible nature of the “necrogeria outbreak” plaguing their town... Items Not Allowed
